Yes, if your calendar software supports Calendar Subscriptions via the 'webcal://' protocol, then you should be able to automatically subscribe to a ShiftAdmin schedule. Use the filters/settings below to indicate your subscription preferences, and then a URL will be automatically displayed below.
URL Will Load Here
Time Zone: The recommend format for calendar subscriptions is UTC time zone, as it is the most commonly supported format, and your calendar software should automatically convert the dates to your local time zone. If your calendar software is having trouble displaying the times in your local time zone, then you can try the Local time zone format.
End Times: By default the calendar subscription will include correct start and end times for the shifts. However, there may be instances where you would want to not use normal end times. For example, if you use an iPhone and like to use the 'Monthly' view, the iPhone puts a dot on both days if your shift ends after midnight, to indicate to you that the shift crosses into the next day. If you do not like that and would prefer not get the 2nd dot, then you can turn on the Stop at Midnight setting. This basically is a hack that changes end times to be midnight if the shift ends after midnight. So your iPhone would think the shift ends at midnight and won't put a dot on the next day in the Month view.
Force Google Calendar Refresh: Google Calendar sometimes has issues with not refreshing subscribed calendars (this is an issue with the Google Calendar service, not Shift Admin). Sometimes it caches the calendar and will not refresh, even if you unsubscribe and resubscribe. A workaround is to provide Google Calendar with a completely new URL so that it thinks it is a calendar that has never been subscribed to before. If you check this option, we will pad the end of the URL with a bogus value, so you can delete your current subscription in Google Calendar and resubscribe using this new URL.
Microsoft Outlook 2007, Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, Microsoft Live Calendar, Yahoo Calendar, and Google Calendar should all work. Any calendar program that supports calendar subscriptions should work. You may be able to get older versions of Outlook to work by using this plugin, but Outlook 2007 and newer are the only Outlook versions that natively support calendar subscriptions.
Vacation days and Day Notes are not currently included in the calendar subscriptions.
iCal on a Mac: If you are subscribing on your Apple devices, we suggest you do NOT subscribe through iCloud, as currently iCloud seems to have some issues with pushing updates to mobile devices. Instead, if you are on a Mac computer, we recommend you choose 'On My Mac' as the Location when you subscribe in your iCal program so that the subscription is just on that computer. Then on an iPhone or iPad, you should subscribe directly from that device by opening the link in your Safari browser.
Google Calendar: WARNING: Google Calendar does NOT provide any means for a user to force a refresh of a subscribed calendar (there is a Refresh button, but it does NOT work for subscribed calendars). You just have to wait until their system decides that it is ready to look for updates. Usually that occurs within a few hours, but sometimes Google Calendar will not refresh a subscribed calendar for many hours or sometimes even days or longer. Sometimes it will not refresh at all. Even unsubscribing and resubscribing will not work. This is a known issue that has been reported to Google and discussed in their forums for years, but they have not corrected the issue. You can read more about it here, here, or here. We have provided a Force Google Calendar Refresh option above that basically tricks Google into refreshing the calendar by placing some garbage text onto the end of the URL so that Google thinks it is a completely new calendar. However, you need to know there is a problem before you would think about needing to do this. If you use Google Calendar, please do not rely completely on it for determining when you are working. You should periodically check the Shift Admin website, or check another calendar software that does not have this issue (such as iCal, Outlook, iPhone, Yahoo Calendar, etc.)
